Vaccinations, and COVID cases, adding up locally

As of Monday, more than 21,620 Thomas County residents, 48% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state Department of Public Health. More than 51,830 doses of vaccine have been administered to Thomas County residents, according to the state Department of Public Health. In all, 32% of Thomas County residents have received full vaccination and an additional dose.
Grady County has had more than 24,630 vaccines administered, with more than 10,570 people, 43% of the population, being fully vaccinated. According to the state DPH, 28% of Grady County residents are fully vaccinated and have received an additional dose.

The state Department of Public Health reports there have been 6,125 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 162 deaths. There also have been 550 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak.
Thomas County has recorded 41 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH.
The state DPH has recorded 2,473 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 68 deaths and 245 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. The county has added 32 new cases in the last two weeks.
Statewide, there have been more than 1.33 million confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 26,239 deaths and more than 92,780 hospitalizations.
More than 13.7 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with a rate of 9.9% for positive results.
Statewide, there have been 64,334 new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks.
