Bulldogs scoop up several top all-region honors

Thomasville took many of the top honors in Region 1-AA, as voted on by region coaches.
Zach Grage was named coach of the year after the Bulldogs won the region title and advanced to the Class AA state championship, finishing 13-2. Senior Jimmy Bowdry was named co-region player of the year, and senior Joe Williams was named athlete of the year. Senior running back Malik Harper was named co-offensive player of the year, and senior linebacker Ty Anderson was named co-defensive player of the year.
Bowdry led the team with five interceptions and 19 passes defensed. Anderson topped the Bulldogs in tackles with 196 and 22 tackles for loss. He also had 15 sacks.
Williams had four interceptions, 16 passes defensed, 81 tackles, caught 16 passes for 554 yards and six touchdowns and punted 47 times, with 13 getting downed inside the 20-yard line.
Harper ran for 1,218 yards and 22 touchdowns.
Other Bulldogs earning first-team honors were quarterback Shannen White, receivers Cole Shaw and Jay Cody, offensive linemen Jacob Tyson and Hakeem Myrick, defensive linemen Marquis Alexander and JaMykal Jones, linebacker Tyrun’dai Hayes, safety Evan Wynn and cornerbacks Jeray Randall and A.J. Bogan. Daniel Belvin also was named first-team kicker.
White completed 115 of 208 passes for 1,996 yards and 24 touchdowns. He added 474 yards and eight TDs rushing.
Shaw had 335 yards and six touchdowns on 14 receptions, and Cody finished with 335 yards and four scores on 21 catches.
Wynn had 126 tackles and Hayes finished with 87, 18 of those for a loss. Alexander had 22 tackles for loss and Jones had 16 tackles for loss. Alexander also had eight sacks and Jones registered six.
Randall also had five interceptions and 12 passes defensed. Bogan had four passes defensed.
Belvin was 54 of 58 on extra point attempts.
Earning second team honors were offensive lineman Jaiwan Anderson and defensive lineman Craig McCray.
Worth County junior Chip Cooper was named co-region player of the year, Cook County senior Jamarion Walker was co-offensive player of the year and Fitzgerald senior linebacker E.J. Lightsey was co-defensive player of the year.
Berrien County junior Hayden Futch was named region special teams player of the year.
