CAIRO — A July 19 fatal shooting that involved Grady County Sheriff’s deputies is now a closed case after a grand jury chose not to issue indictments in the matter.

“It was a terrible situation all the way around, but based on the video and the body cam footage we’re going to follow the recommendation from the grand jury and decline prosecution in this matter,” South Georgia Judicial Circuit District Attorney Joe Mulholland said.

Jason Frolic, 43, was pronounced dead on Pine Park Road after four deputies tried to arrest him for refusing to leave a homeowner’s property.

Before using firearms, deputies attempted to use pepper spray and tasers to detain Frolic, but he was still able to escape in a deputy’s car, which led to a short chase.

Three of the deputies placed on administrative were reinstated back in August.
