Archbold facilities admit 28 new COVID-19 patients over last seven days

THOMASVILLE — Archbold officials reported Tuesday there have been 85 new COVID-19 positive test results over the last week, Over the past week, the system has had 878 new negative results. Twenty-eight people were admitted to Archbold facilities in the last week for COVID-19. 

The system record five deaths from COVID-19 in the last week.

As of Tuesday, there were 24 COVID-19 positive patients at Archbold Memorial Hospital. There were two COVID-19 positive patients at Grady General Hospital, three at Mitchell County Hospital and one at Brooks County Hospital. There are no COVID-19 positive patients at Northside Center for Behavioral and Psychiatric Care.

Archbold also is reporting there are no COVID-19 positive patients at Glenn-Mor Nursing Home, Mitchell Convalescent Center or at Pelham Parkway Nursing Home.

The system also has administered 32,351 COVID-19 vaccine doses as of Tuesday. 

As of Tuesday, 26 of the current 30 positive COVID-19 admissions at Archbold facilities have not been vaccinated. Nine of the 10 patients in critical care had not been vaccinated and all six patients on ventilators had not received a COVID-19 vaccine.

All eligible community members can receive their booster shots at the Archbold vaccine clinic, which is open through October 1 from 10 a.m.-7 p.m.

As of Tuesday, more than 20,110 Thomas County residents, 45% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state Department of Public Health. More than 42,830 doses of vaccine have been administered to Thomas County residents.

More than 22,690 people, 51% of the county’s population, have received at least one dose.

Grady County has had more than 20,690 vaccines administered, with more than 9,810 people, 40% of the population, being fully vaccinated.

The state Department of Public Health reports there have been 5,911 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 153 deaths. There also have been 473 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak. 

Thomas County has recorded 278 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH. 

The state DPH has recorded 2,290 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 62 deaths and 217 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. The county has added 108 new cases in the last two weeks. 

Statewide, there have been more than 1.2 million confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 22,228 deaths and more than 80,380 hospitalizations.

More than 11.3 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with a rate of 10.6% for positive results. 

Statewide, there have been 49,921 new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks. 

The state has issued more than 10.44 million vaccinations, and 47% of all Georgia residents, more than 4.9 million people, have been fully vaccinated.
