COVID-19 case and vaccine totals inch upward

THOMASVILLE — Archbold officials reported Tuesday there have been 264 new COVID-19 positive test results over the last week, Over the past week, the system has had 981 new negative results. Thirty-one people were admitted to Archbold facilities in the last week for COVID-19. 

The system record eight deaths from COVID-19 in the last week.

As of Tuesday, there were 35 COVID-19 positive patients at Archbold Memorial Hospital. There were four COVID-19 positive patients at Grady General Hospital, one at Brooks County Hospital and three at Mitchell County Hospital. There are no COVID-19 positive patients at Northside Center for Behavioral and Psychiatric Care.

Archbold also is reporting there are no COVID-19 positive patients at Glenn-Mor Nursing Home, Mitchell Convalescent Center or at Pelham Parkway Nursing Home.

The system also has administered 31,475 COVID-19 vaccine doses as of Tuesday.

Also as of Tuesday, 39 of the current 43 positive COVID-19 admissions have not been vaccinated. None of the 16 patients in critical care at Archbold facilities had been vaccinated and six patients on ventilators are unvaccinated.

Archbold is switching its vaccine operations to solely walk-in clinics every Wednesday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at Archbold Memorial Hospital’s Williams Auditorium. No appointment is necessary.

As of Tuesday, more than 19,120 Thomas County residents, 43% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state Department of Public Health. More than 41,100 doses of vaccine have been administered to Thomas County residents.

Grady County has had more than 19,700 vaccines administered, with more than 9,160 people, 37% of the population, being fully vaccinated.

The state Department of Public Health reports there have been 5,642 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 137 deaths. There also have been 450 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak. 

Thomas County has recorded 565 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH. 

The state DPH has recorded 2,183 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 60 deaths and 213 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. The county has added 138 new cases in the last two weeks. 

Statewide, there have been more than 1.16 million confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 20,806 deaths and more than 76,860 hospitalizations.

More than 11 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with a rate of 10.5% for positive results. 

Statewide, there have been 78,750 new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks. 

The state has issued more than 10.12 million vaccinations, and 45% of all Georgia residents, more than 4.73 million people, have been fully vaccinated.
