Full COVID-19 vaccination total tops 20K in Thomas County

As of Friday, more than 20,000 Thomas County residents, 45% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state Department of Public Health. More than 42,530 doses of vaccine have been administered to Thomas County residents.

More than 22,650 people, 51% of the county’s population, have received at least one dose.

Grady County has had more than 20,560 vaccines administered, with more than 9,730 people, 39% of the population, being fully vaccinated.

The state Department of Public Health reports there have been 5,863 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 153 deaths. There also have been 463 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak. 

Thomas County has recorded 389 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH. 

The state DPH has recorded 2,274 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 62 deaths and 214 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. The county has added 131 new cases in the last two weeks. 

Statewide, there have been more than 1.2 million confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 21,991 deaths and more than 79,610 hospitalizations.

More than 11.3 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with a rate of 10.6% for positive results. 

Statewide, there have been 55.956 new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks. 

The state has issued more than 10.39 million vaccinations, and 47% of all Georgia residents, more than 4.88 million people, have been fully vaccinated.
