Thomas County nears 13,000 full COVID vaccinations

As of Monday, more than 14,840 Thomas County residents, 33% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state Department of Public Health. More than 30,950 doses of vaccine have been administered.

Grady County has had more than 14,140 vaccines administered, with more than 6,830 people, 28% of the population, being fully vaccinated.

The state Department of Public Health reports there have been 3,677 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 114 deaths. There also have been 364 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak. 

Thomas County has recorded 23 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH. 

The state DPH has recorded 1,621 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 49 deaths and 189 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. The county has added 19 new cases in the last two weeks. 

Statewide, there have been more than 901,000 confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 18,403 deaths and more than 64,600 hospitalizations.

More than 9 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with a rate of 9.7% for positive results. 

Statewide, there have been 3,889 new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks. 

The state has issued more than 8 million vaccinations, and 37% of all Georgia residents, more than 3.81 million people, have been fully vaccinated.
