Archbold’s COVID-19 vaccine totals top 27,000

THOMASVILLE — Archbold officials reported Tuesday there have been 28 new COVID-19 positive test results over the last week, Over the past week, the system has had 561 new negative results. Five people were admitted to Archbold hospitals in the last week for COVID-19. The system recorded one death from COVID-19 in the last week.

As of Tuesday, there were three COVID-19 positive patients at Archbold Memorial Hospital, and none at Grady General Hospital, Brooks County Hospital or Mitchell County Hospital. There are no COVID-19 positive patients at Northside Center for Behavioral and Psychiatric Care.

Archbold also is reporting there are no COVID positive patients at Pelham Parkway Nursing Home, Glenn-Mor Nursing Home or Mitchell Convalescent Center. 

The system also has administered 27,216 COVID-19 vaccine doses as of Tuesday.

As of Tuesday, more than 13,040 Thomas County residents, 29% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state Department of Public Health. More than 27,510 doses of vaccine have been administered.

Grady County has had more than 12,810 vaccines administered, with more than 6,150 people, 25% of the population, being fully vaccinated.

The state Department of Public Health reports there have been 3,653 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 114 deaths. There also have been 364 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak. 

Thomas County has recorded 34 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH. 

The state DPH has recorded 1,606 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 49 deaths and 187 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. The county has added 22 new cases in the last two weeks. 

Statewide, there have been more than 898,000 confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 18,214 deaths and more than 64,100 hospitalizations.

More than 8.8 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with a rate of 9.8% for positive results. 

Statewide, there have been 4,473 new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks. 

The state has issued nearly 7.7 million vaccinations, and 35% of all Georgia residents, more than 3.59 million people, have been fully vaccinated.
