THOMASVILLE — A man under surveillance and five more suspects were arrested after almost two pounds of drugs were found in a local neighborhood.
Louis Schofill, commander of the Thomas County/Thomasville Narcotics/Vice Division, said Tovaris “Bud” Grant, 47, was under surveillance over the last two months for selling synthetic marijuana and Molly.
“We watched him sell drugs from his house and from his vehicles. We ourselves purchased drugs from him on multiple occasions,” he said.
At approximately 5:40 a.m. Wednesday, the Narcotics/Vice agents carried out search warrants on Lucy Street at two neighboring addresses.
The Thomas County SWAT Team, Thomasville Criminal Investigations Division, Thomasville Police Department, Thomas County Sheriff’s Office and Boston Police Department also were brought in to help execute the search warrants.
Narcotics agents found 38.7 grams of synthetic marijuana in Grant’s Lexus vehicle parked outside of the Lucy Street residence. They also recovered 0.6 grams of molly, a .22-caliber rifle, and an airsoft BB gun, which was posed as a real gun.
Jaquez Miley, 24, lived next door to Grant and also had a separate charge. Narcotics agents found drug paraphernalia and more molly at Miley’s home. Thomas Bielefeldt, 49, Charika Crimley, 40, Tommy Baker, 38 and Charlie Hill, 57, also were arrested and are in police custody.
“During the course of the investigation, we realized that these two houses were working together with all the occupants that were arrested, due to our surveillance and our information,” Schofill said.
Because of the amount of drugs and firearms involved, Schofill said that the case most likely will be turned into a federal case.
“We’re going to send it through the federal program called Project Safe Neighborhoods,” he said.
Grant is charged with trafficking in a schedule I substance (spice), three counts of a possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, three counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a schedule I substance (molly).
The other five suspects are facing charges ranging from possession of firearm by a convicted felon, trafficking spice and possession of drug-related objects.
