THOMASVILLE — An investigation into a double shooting at a Thomasville business began in late February when two men were transported to Archbold Memorial Hospital for gunshot wound treatment.
About 1 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27, Thomas County Sheriff’s Office responded to Thomasville Travel Center at 2685 U.S. 84 in reference to a shooting.
The Thomasville regional Georgia Bureau of Investigation office was asked assist in the investigation.
Ladarius Walden was found to be suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, said Jamy Steinberg, special agent in charge of the Thomasville GBI office. An ambulance took Walden to Archbold Memorial Hospital.
It was learned a second individual, Dexter Toles, had been taken to Archbold in a private vehicle and also was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Steinberg said.
Steinberg said Toles, 23, 205 Martin Luther King Drive, drove into the gasoline station when he saw Walden, produced a handgun and approached Walden.
“Walden fired his weapon first, striking Toles, then Toles fired as Walden ran away,” Steinberg said. The incident centered around domestic issues involving a female and Walden and Toles, Steinberg said.
Narcotics found in Toles’ vehicle were turned over to the Thomas County/Thomasville Narcotics/Vice Division.
Methamphetamine and ecstasy were found in a book bag in Toles’ vehicle, said Louis Schofill, narcotics/vice commander.
Toles is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, methamphetamine possession with intent to distribute and possession of a Schedule I substance with intent to distribute.
