THOMASVILLE — A trucking company will close an Alabama terminal and relocate in Thomasville in April.

Yellow Company is closing the business’ terminal in Dothan, Alabama. Thomasville was chosen because of its location and logistics.

“They’re consolidating and moving it here,” said Shelley Zorn, Thomasville Payroll Development Authority (PDA) executive director.

Zorn said Yellow Company is the second-largest LTL (less than truckload) trucking company in North America.

The business, known now as Yellow Company, is rebranding and will become Yellow Freight by summer.

The company, which will open April 11 in a leased building, will be located at 2150 Sunset Blvd. in the old industrial park.

Zorn said the company will hire 24 CDL truck drivers, who will be paid $21.33 an hour to start, with paid benefits. Truck drivers will travel within a 100-mile radius of Thomasville.

Warehouse and distribution employees will be paid $16 an hour, said Zorn.

“They’re also looking for two diesel mechanics,” she added.

Those interested in jobs can apply at the new terminal at 2150 Sunset Blvd. or by calling Yellow Company official Don Hinkle at (913) 229-2172.

The Kansas-based company is connecting with Southern Regional Technical College, the Georgia Department of Labor and other hiring services.
