Woman shot during domestic incident

THOMASVILLE — A Camilla man and a Thomasville woman struggling over a gun during a domestic dispute ended when the firearm discharged. A projectile struck the woman in a hand.

The man and woman were arguing at 704 W. Oak St. about 10 a.m. Sunday, said Lt. Toby Knifer, Thomasville Police Department Criminal Investigations Division commander.

Police responded when a report was received about someone being shot and found Lorenzo Williams in possession of a .22-caliber handgun.

“The victim had been shot in the hand,” Knifer said. “They were physically fighting each other.”

The investigation showed Williams pointed the gun at the victim, and she reached for the firearm.

Williams, 27, 157 Scott St., Camilla, was charged with aggravated assault.

The victim was transported to Archbold Memorial Hospital where she was treated and released.
