THOMASVILLE — Old voting machines are gone. New machines arrived Friday at the new Thomas County Elections & Registration Office at 1402 E. Jackson St.
Early voting for the March 24 presidential preference primary begins March 2 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the new elections office. Early voting ends March 20.
An hour has been added to early voting hours to accommodate voters after working hours, said Frank Scoggins, elections supervisor.
Early voting also will be available on Saturday, March 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Thomas County’s 21 polling places were inspected last week. Inspection results were submitted to the Georgia secretary of state’s elections division.
“Any recommendations will be forthcoming,” said Scoggins, who does not anticipate problems.
Polling place situations that might not have passed inspection have been addressed, he added.
City polling places in March will be at Jerger, Scott and Harper elementary schools and at the Resource Center.
