CAIRO — A Mitchell County teen wanted for several felonies in that county was taken into custody this week by Grady County authorities following a tip to the sheriff’s office Drug Unit.
Mitchell County authorities informed the Grady County Sheriff’s Office early Tuesday morning that Scott Foster, wanted on several outstanding warrants in Mitchell County, may have been located in a residence on Pope Store Road just inside Grady County. Deputies and drug agents with the Grady County Sheriff’s Office and agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Drug Unit responded to the residence at around 9:51 a.m. and took Foster into custody.
Authorities say Foster, 17, is responsible for several felonies over the past several weeks, including multiple burglaries in the second degree and instances of entering vehicles and that he committed crimes with possessing a firearm or knife.
Foster was transported to the Mitchell County border where he was released to authorities from that county. He is currently being held in the Mitchell County Jail.
Roscoe Jones, a captain with the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office, said it was a “huge relief” for Foster to be off the streets, according to a Grady County Sheriff’s Office press release. The press release states that Jones greatly appreciated all agencies that assisted in Foster’s apprehension.
Grady County Sheriff Harry Young said he is always available to assist any agencies that request help from his officers, the press release states.
