THOMASVILLE — Two women who suspected a man of using his cell phone in an inappropriate manner set a trap that resulted in the suspect’s arrest.

“The two females worked at a local business,” said Capt. Tim Watkins, Thomas County Sheriff’s Office chief investigator.

Watkins said the women suspected the man of placing his cell phone on the floor of the business as they approached him and videoed them.

“They suspected he was placing his phone in a manner where he could observe under their clothing and recording,” Watkins said.

The women videoed Cameron Stephens placing his phone on the floor and filed a report with the sheriff’s office.

Watkins said the women think Stephens also videoed under their clothing prior to when they documented the activity.

A search warrant executed on Stephens’ cell phone resulted in finding similar photographs of undetermined origin, the investigator said.

Stephens, 50, Butterfield Street, in charged with invasion of privacy.

Watkins said that when Stephens was caught, one victim welcomed him to the business, and the other victim videoed him placing his phone on the floor.

Said Watkins: “What’s the old saying? A picture is worth a thousand words?”
