John Franklin (Jack) Allbright
Memorial services for John Franklin (Jack) Allbright, 67, Cairo, are at 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002 at the chapel of Clark Funeral Home. The Rev. Ike Powell will officiate. Mr. Allbright died Monday, Jan. 28 at his residence. Born Oct. 12, 1934 in Anaheim, Calif., he was a son of the late John B. and Jeanette Abbott Allbright. He retired as a consultant for the California Youth Authority and had moved to Cairo in 1993 from California. He served as city councilman for two years for the City of Cairo; on the Board of Neutral Zone; and member board of directors for Grady General Hospital Support League. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Navy. Survivors include his wife, Jane Reynolds Allbright of Cairo; a son, Ben Allbright of Berkley, Calif.; daughters, Lisa Allbright of Berkley, Calif., Kim Allbright of Santa Fe, N.M.; two step-sons, Brian Mathews of Grand Rapid, Mich., Tom Mathews of Yuba City, Calif.; a sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Harold Chamberlin of Sun City, Calif.; grandchildren Zachery, T.J. and Brad Mathews of Yuba City, Calif. and Emily Mathews of Grand Rapids, Mich. The family requests no flowers and memorials may be made to Hospice of Southwest Georgia, the Neutral Zone, Grady General Support League or to the Roddenbery Memorial Library. — Clark Funeral Home
Mary Jewell Brown Gleaton
Services for Mary Jewell Brown Gleaton, 83, Thomasville are at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002 at Ochlocknee Baptist Church with the Rev. Merrill Coram officiating. Interment will follow at Midway Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Gleaton died Sunday, Jan. 27 at Archbold Hospital Born Jan. 2, 1919 in Thomas County, she was the daughter of the late T. A. Brown and the late Dulcie White Brown. She was married to the late Jack E. Gleaton, who preceded her in death in 1966. She was a homemaker and employed by the State of Georgia Tag Division, member of the Eastern Star and member of Ochlocknee Baptist Church. Survivors include brother and sister-in-law, Charles L. and Margaret Brown of Cairo; and very special relative, Maggie Farr of Thomasville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack E. Gleaton; brother and sister-in-law, Emory and Ivolene Brown; and sister and brother-in-law, Ottie Grace and Harold High. Jessica Lynn Hurst
Services for Jessica Lynn Hurst, 18, are at 2 p.m. Tuesday Jan. 29, 2002, at Church of Nazarene, Cairo, with Revs. Walter Brady and Donald Barnes officiating. Interment is at Pine Hill Cemetery, Cairo. Miss Hurst died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, in Ochlocknee. She was born in Thomasville April 11, 1983. She was a 2001 graduate of Cairo High School and a member of the Church of Nazarene, Cairo. She is survived by her father and stepmother, Billy and Therese Hurst, Ochlocknee; mother and stepfather, Lynn and David Gainous, Cairo; brother, William Bennett Hurst Jr., Bainbridge; stepbrothers, Trey Gainous, Tommy Gainous, both of Cairo, Adam Pierce and Chris A. Pierce, both of Thomasville; stepsister, Athena Nixon, Thomasville; grandparents, Mary and Troy Hewett, Cairo, (and the late Hubert Brady), Nora Ruth Hurst, Cairo, (and the late Roger H.
