State Park Road is open

The Grady County Board of Commissioners had announced that State Park Road and the State Park Road boat ramp at Tired Creek Lake are now open to the public. Grady County Road Department crews have completed their work in preparing the road for paving and as the road bed settles, it will be open to through traffic unless there are extended periods of rain. Family and Friends Day

The Bethel M.B. Church will be holding its 16th annual Family and Friends Day this Saturday, February 1 at 6 p.m. The guest speaker for the special event will be Rev. Henry Flowers, III. The congregation invites everyone in the community to attend.

Registration being geld for Pre-K

Pre-K registration for the 2020-21 school year will be held the week of February 3-7. In order for a child to be eligible for public Pre-K, they must be 4 years old on or before September 1, 2020 and not have previously attend a state-funded Pre-K program. Appointments for registering your child can be made by calling the school where your child will attend during the week of January 27-31 after 9 a.m. Placement in the Grady County Pre-K program is based on availability and done on a lottery basis.

Disability Services Fair to be held

The Grady County Disability Services Fair will be held on Thursday, February 6 from 4-7 p.m. at the Cairo High School College and Career Academy. The event is free and is designed to connect people who have any disabilities or their caregivers with the services that are available in the community. Light snacks and childcare will be available on site to those who attend. For more information, please call Rebecca Best at 377-7396.

New hours for library used bookstore

The Roddenbery Memorial Library’s Used Book Story has new hours and will now be only be open every third Tuesday and every fourth Saturday of the month.  The book store is located in the Grady Room behind the main library.

Register for spring sports

The Grady County Recreation Department is currently holding registration for spring sports. You can register through February 14 for youth baseball, girls fastpitch softball and co-ed tee ball. For age restrictions and age control dates, contact the Rec Department. Register by stopping by the Grady County Recreation Department on North Broad Street weekdays from 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
