FITZGERALD — Country music legend John Conlee is on tour and performing a concert at the Grand Theatre in Fitzgerald on Aug. 2.
In 2006, Conlee was inducted into the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame. Conlee has had 32 single releases throughout the years with 26 of them charting in the top 20 or better. Eight of his songs reached number one on the national country charts.
Conlee has brought audiences songs like, “Rose Colored Glasses,” “Friday Night Blues” and “Backside of 30” that has topped country music charts. He recently celebrated the 41 year anniversary for his song “Rose Colored Glasses” in May.
“When I started this business my goal was to have longevity and produce a body of work,” said Conlee. “So far I have achieved both of those goals.”
In 2015 Conlee released “Walkin’ Behind the Star” and “Bread and Water.” The song writer Phil Thomas found inspiration for writing the song “Walkin’ Behind the Star” from his grandfather and great grandfather who served in the sheriff’s department.
”Recent deadly attacks against the people who keep us safe is unprecedented in America, and I wanted to sing this song in honor of their sacrifice and willingness to serve,” Conlee said.
The Aug. 2 concert will start at 7 p.m. and tickets can be purchased by calling 800-965-9324. The address for the concert venue is 119 S Main St, Fitzgerald.
