Thomas County Middle School MERIT students recently completed several jobs for Hands On Thomas County. Though the original date was cancelled due to weather concerns, students, teachers, parents and community members worked together to complete the tasks.

More than 230 volunteers represented the MERIT program throughout the volunteer efforts. Volunteers worked at the Pollinator Garden while learning more about invasive insects and plants while others cleaned the running trails behind TCMS, worked in the media center to organize materials, and spread pine straw on both the TCMS and Hand-In-Hand campuses.

Other groups worked at the Cassidy Road Pond and with Second Harvest. A favorite task was creating holiday cards for troops stationed around the world in conjunction with the local chapter of the Red Cross.
