BOSTON — Looking for a Norman Rockwell setting to usher in the holidays? Head to Boston.

In eastern Thomas County off U. S. 84, downtown Boston offers twinkling lights, seasonal music in the air and a hearty greeting from each person you meet. A slower pace awaits.

Events include Black Friday sales the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas In Boston Celebration Saturday, Dec. 7, and a live nativity at Boston Baptist Church on Dec. 8.

On Friday, Nov. 29, Boston visitors will find merchants happy to greet customers and assist in finding gifts for those special folks on your list. Easy parking, great sales and refreshments make for a relaxed experience. 

Cahoots will offer free Christmas gift wrap, with the holiday spirit alive in each shop, making shopping convenient and a pleasure.

On Saturday, Dec. 7, at 6:30 p.m., Santa Claus arrives in Boston. The jolly fella will be escorted into town riding in a horse-drawn carriage. Santa’s parade will include equestrian units and festive golf carts. St. Nick will be in Watt Park on Main Street to greet children after the parade.

Also in Watt Park, Dance Academy will perform on stage. Caroling, refreshments and carriage rides around historic Boston will be available.

To enter a decorated golf cart in the parade, be in place on Railroad Avenue by 6 p.m. Carts will be judged, and the winner awarded a $100 cash.

Boston Mayor Danny Groover encourages everyone to enjoy the festive atmosphere. 

“Shops will be open late for your shopping convenience, and local restaurants will be open for your Saturday night supper. Come join us,” he said.

An annual Boston event that sets the tone for the season is the live nativity presented by Boston Baptist Church on South Main Street. Beginning at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, the Biblical story will be told, and Christmas hymns will be served. Refreshments will be served afterward.
