Thomas County Central High School’s Cool 2 Be Kind club recognized October as National Bullying Prevention Month. Its focus this year is getting more students engaged in actively preventing bullying. Club sponsors are Mary Guy and Cindy Beethe. Inclement weather postponed some activities, like volunteering for Hands On Thomas County Day, until a later date.

One October activity that occurred was the club took temporary charge of the bulletin board at the end of B Hall. On the board, the club encouraged students, staff and faculty to take the pledge to prevent bullying by signing their names on it.

Also, sponsors and members participated in a special Anti-bullying Summit at St. Paul AME Church in Sandersville. TCCHS C2BK co-hosted the event in partnership with numerous other organizations and individuals. The event’s theme was “Promoting Love and Kindness,” and it featured panelists, workshops, and various anti-bullying resources to help equip students and parents with tools to combat bullies. For example, in one exercise, TCCHS C2BK members led a workshop for kids about how everyone is more alike than different using M&Ms as a visual reference. Kids learned how, just like M&Ms, humans are different colors and sizes but are the same on the inside.
