The money raised here stays here, helping local organizations that range from the Salvation Army to the Special Olympics, from the Girl Scouts and the Boy Scouts to the Council on Aging and the Scott Senior Center. The United Way supports agencies and organizations that reach nearly every facet of life in Thomas County, and now Grady County as well.
The United Way relies heavily on the support of local contributors, from individuals to businesses. Contributions are tax-deductible, too, and they can be made in a variety of ways. Contributions can be made through payroll deductions or directly.
To help get the annual campaign kicked off, the United Way is hosting its annual kickoff event next week. Since it’s football season — in spite of what the thermometer might indicate — it’s always a gridiron theme. This year’s speaker is former All-American placekicker Kevin Butler, who had a long career in the NFL, including being on a Super Bowl-winning team.
There are a lot of team members who depend on the United Way and its annual campaign, and those organizations help our community be the winner it is. You can help too by contributing to the campaign or by reserving a spot in the kickoff luncheon next week. You can call the United Way office at 228-0560 for more information.
