Authorities continue investigation into body found at Wright St. house

THOMASVILLE — Authorities are investigating what led to a man’s death Monday morning.
Officers were called to a residence on the 1300 block of Wright Street, where they found the body of a man around 8 a.m. The body was found next to the house, said Maj. Wade Glover, Thomasville Police Department public information officer.
Officers cordoned off the scene and called in the criminal investigation division on what is being called a suspicious death.
The deceased has been identitied as Willie James Barber, age 67.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab performed an autopsy Tuesday morning.
“This is still an active investigation. The case is being investigated as a suspicious death,” Glover said in a release. “We are asking for the public’s help if you have any information pertaining to this case.”
The GBI and the Thomas County Sheriff’s Office are assisting the Thomasville Police Department.
