Oct 22 | Mindfulness and Meditation Workshop | 6 p.m.
Do you want to improve your concentration and emotional regulation? This class is a continuing introduction to mindfulness following our September workshop. Through simple techniques you will learn to pay closer attention to your thoughts, feelings and sensations. This has the potential to develop emotional clarity and resilience. Led by Thomas University’s associate professor of art, Rich Curtis. Curtis has been practicing mindfulness and meditation for several years. He is also chair of the Mindfulness Campus Work Group at Thomas University.
Oct 24 | 14th Annual Literacy Fair | 5.30-7.30 p.m.
The Certified Literate Community Program’s Annual Literacy Fair is here! Join us at the Library for an evening of fun literacy games for children, free food, free books, vendors from around the community and a huge costume contest for all ages! Fun for the whole family and it is all free!
Nov 1 | Enlightening Bites | Noon
Bring your lunch to the Library and enjoy a break with this month’s program, “He Flew the Hump.” The Japanese empire was rapidly expanding in World War II and China was under siege. After the Lido Road and several major ports were captured, the only way for American supplies to get to the Chinese Army was through the air by one of the most treacherous routes imaginable – over the Himalaya Mountains. This is the story about a young man from south Georgia’s incredible assignment in the skies over India and China. Will is a native Thomasvillian and former U.S. Army military police soldier stationed in West Germany. This is the story of his father.
Nov 6 | Managing Mold & Moisture | 1 p.m.
Having a problem with mold in your home or workspace? Moisture is the main culprit! Mold can be easily hidden out of sight behind walls, under carpets, and in attics, but is detrimental to the health of your family, especially young children with asthma and allergies. UGA Extension Thomas County Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) agent, Ashleigh Childs, brings you information on how to identify if you have a mold problem and methods of remediation.
