Two Georgia linebackers arrested for marijuana

The Georgia football program’s arrest list has increased after two more players ran into legal issues on Tuesday.

Outside linebackers Brenton Cox and Robert Beal were arrested on misdemeanor charges for possession of marijuana Tuesday afternoon. The news was first reported by DawgNation.

According to the Athens-Clarke County jail logs, Cox was arrested by the UGA Police Department, booked at 2:55 p.m. for possession of marijuana of less than one ounce and was released on $1,000 bond at 4:08 p.m.

Beal was also arrested by UGA PD, booked for the same charge at 3:13 p.m. and released on a $1,000 bond at 4:21 p.m.

In 2018, Cox, rated as a 5-star prospect from Stockbridge, played in 13 games and recorded 20 total tackles and one sack. Beal, a 4-star prospect from Suwannee who played at Peachtree Ridge High School, played in 11 games, totaling 15 tackles and one sack.

The two players join Latavious Brini, Jaden Hunter, Tyler Simmons and Tyrique Stevenson as six Georgia football players to face charges in the last two months.
