Thomas County Central High School senior baseball player Nick Herndon recently signed with Santa Fe College in Gainesville, Florida. Herndon signed as a two-way player where he will compete for a spot in the outfield and throw innings in relief.

“Nick loves the game of baseball, and I cannot be more excited for him to have the opportunity to continue playing the game he loves after high school,” said TCCHS head coach Ryan Strickland. “He has been blessed with ability, but also has demonstrated to be a great program player. He is one of those guys who is constantly calling for extra work in the off-season and outside of practice, he is a field rat.”

Herndon plays centerfield and pitches for the Yellow Jackets who are 26-4 and will travel to face Wayne County in the second round of the state playoffs Thursday.

“I’m thankful to be able to play for the Sante Fe Saints,” Herndon said. “The coaching staff at TCC has prepared me for opportunity by helping to develop my skills and character as a player.
