Lent lunch series returns

TIFTON — The 2018 Community Lenten Lunches will begin Wednesday, Feb. 14 at noon at the Leroy Rogers Senior Center with First Baptist Church Pastor Dr. Wayne Roe, Pastor, said Fran Kinchen, director of the Leroy Rogers Senior Center, in a press release.

This is a continuation of the Tifton Community Lenten Lunch Series and its purpose is to bring Christians together from different denominations and traditions in order to worship and bear witness to our common faith in Jesus Christ in the Easter Season, the release states.

It will begin on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 14 and continue each Wednesday of Lent, and conclude the Wednesday of Holy Week, March 28.

A light lunch will be served from noon-12:30 p.m., with devotion around 12:30 and conclude by 1 p.m. so those with a 12-1 lunch hour can return promptly to work. A donation of $3 is asked for to help pay for the lunch, the release states.

In the past weekly attendance has averaged 150-175.

March 28, First United Methodist, Pastor Benjy Varnell

Easter Sunday is April 1.
