MOULTRIE, Ga. — Explore different types of art throughout the year with the Colquitt County Arts Center and the “Art of …” series. These workshops are perfect for beginners and provide a great opportunity to try them out. April begins with “The Art of Ceramics.” This five-week workshop will run every Monday in April with opportunities to learn hand building techniques and throw clay on the wheel. Leah Garcia and Ashlee Parrish will help you make a chip and dip server and several bowls that can be used daily to eat out of and use as decoration. This workshop is available on Mondays at 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. All supplies are included for $125 per participant. Community job fair returns to CGTC Putnam County Center
EATONTON, Ga. — The Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) Putnam County Center (PCC) JOB*FEST is making its return on April 19, 2018 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. “The Putnam County Center of Central Georgia Technical College is pleased to host JOB*FEST, a Putnam County Community Job Fair, for the fourth consecutive year,” said Carrie Dietrich, director of the PCC for CGTC. “This event is an example of CGTC’s commitment to workforce development and connects local job seekers with employers in our community.” Just like In previous years, the JOB*FEST will not only connect community members to a wide range of employers seeking to fill open positions, but also share the advantages of a technical education in pursuing a career. Participants are encouraged to refine their résumés, dress and exhibit professional attitudes, and arrive ready to engage with company representatives. Participating companies include Putnam County Headstart, Graphic Packaging International, Heavy Equipment College of America, Louie Herron Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, Middle Georgia Consortium, Inc., Hancock State Prison, Reynolds Lake Oconee, and Young Harris Water Sports Lake Oconee among others. Gospel showcase to benefit scholarships
TIFTON, Ga. — The 8th Annual Artist Showcase returns Saturday, April 7. The annual gospel concert benefits scholarships from the Bishop Alton Litman Foundation. This year’s showcase will feature: Angela Litman Farrell, Tomika Webb, CCC Heavenly Doves, Music Ministry of Beulah Hill M.B.C., The Brown Brothers, Purpose, BNI Mime Ministry, Darrell Pittman, Precious Melton, Darrell Melton, Swift Moves, Floetry, Satrina Kelley-Jordan and 4Given. Lester C. Solomon is the host pastor. Beulah Hill M.B.C. will host the showcase at 512 W. 23rd Street. The show starts at 5 p.m., with doors opening at 4 p.m. For more information, contact Pastor A. Model train show set for April 21-22
DALTON, Ga. — Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church hosts a model train expo April 21-22. The event is open to the public and there is no admission fee. Organizers expect to have about 4,000 square feet of model train layouts. The event is co-hosted by the Chattanooga Modular Modelers, a model railroad enthusiast club. The show is open Saturday, April 21, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, April 22, from noon to 5 p.m. The church is at 2701 Cleveland Highway.
