Green second, third for Tift at Swamp Duals

TIFTON — Both Tift County track teams finished 11th at the annual Swamp Relays in Waycross Saturday.

The Lady Devils compiled 17.5 points and the Blue Devils had 31 as they faced teams from all over the state, with another team coming in from South Carolina.

Kiera Green was the overall top finisher for Tift, second place in the discus throw at 101’5”. She also was third in the shot put. Green’s best heave was 31’6”.

Mike Jones had a third place finish in the 110 hurdles, completing the course in 15.42 seconds. Teammate Danny Hill was seventh in the same race at 16.03 seconds. Both Blue Devils’ pole vaulters earned spots in the top seven, Braye Pellegrino third at 11 feet and Jacob Reed seventh at 9’6”. Chad Williams was third in shot put at 47’11.5”.

Cali Conner tied for fourth in high jump with a hight of 4’10”. J.D. Bengston was fourth in the 800-meter run at 2:11.9. Bengston later ran fifth in the 1,600 at 4:57.

Conner was eighth in the 100 hurdles, with a time of 18.19 seconds. The Lady Devils were ninth in the 4×100 relay in 51.33 seconds. The boys’ time of 3:41 earned them a 10th place finish in the 4×400. Javian Neloms had another 10th place finish, his coming in the high jump with a height of 5’8”.

Tift track teams are scheduled to compete at Fitzgerald this afternoon at 4 p.m. There will be a quad meet Wednesday at 4 p.m.
