GBI charges three in Eldorado Food Mart murder, One still at large

Alexis Naomi McCrary, 21, turned herself in to the Tift County Sheriff's Office on Monday, Aug. 20.

On Monday, August 20, 2018, Alexis McCrary turned herself in to the Tift County Jail.  Caleb Day remains at large.

TIFTON — Warrants have been issued for three individuals in relation to the July 30 death of Eldorado Food Mart owner Akhtar “Oscar” Perveez, according to a GBI press release.

On August 16, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) took warrants on the following individuals for the murder of Perveez, age 55:

Caleb Day, 21 – Armed robbery and felony murder.

Nathaniel Day, 21 – Armed robbery and party to the crime of felony murder (Nathaniel Day is currently incarcerated at the Ben Hill County Jail on an unrelated charge of armed robbery).

Alexis Naomi McCrary, 21 – Armed robbery and party to the crime of felony murder.

Caleb Day and McCrary remain at large.  

On Monday, July 30, at approximately 3:25 PM, the Tift County Sheriff’s Office requested the GBI to assist in a death investigation at the Eldorado Food Mart on Highway 41 in Tift County where Perveez, store owner, was killed during a robbery.

A GBI Medical Examiner ruled his death a homicide by gunshot wound.

Investigators followed leads obtained during this investigation that led them to Caleb Day, Nathaniel Day and Alexis McCrary.  

This joint investigation remains active and ongoing.
