MOULTRIE, Ga. — A weekend child custody dispute brought drug charges for the toddler’s grandmother and her boyfriend after deputies found the boy in a room with suspected cocaine and methamphetamine.

An officer was dispatched at about 2:30 p.m. Sunday to the 5900 block of Highway 133 South where Roseanna Turner reported that her mother refused to return the child to her.

The deputy then went to the grandmother’s 124 W.E. Hart Road residence and was able to return the toddler to Turner.

“In plain view where a 17-month-old child was located, drugs were found in the same room (with) the child,” said Sgt. Justin Lindsay of the Moultrie-Colquitt County Drug Enforcement Team. “I executed a search warrant based on the information deputies gave me.”

Inside the room, Lindsay said, officers seized cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Angela Dawn Turner and Kris Bryan Fletcher, 43, both of whom live at the residence, have been charged with possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug-related objects.

“They also will be charged with reckless conduct based on the child being in the house around these drugs,” Lindsay said.

Fletcher is no relation to the child, he said.

Police do not think that the toddler was exposed to the substances, Lindsay said.

The child was returned to his mother.
