MOULTRIE, Ga. — An early morning confrontation outside a Moultrie watering hole ended with shots fired from two weapons, damaging a wall and a window.
It was the first of two shooting incidents Moultrie police investigated on Sunday, but no one was hurt in either incident.
A Moultrie Police Department officer was dispatched at about 2:05 a.m. Sunday to 506 Hwy. 133 S., identified as Touch Down Sports Bar.
There, a witness told them that there was a group of two men and two women arguing that he told to leave. Then he saw a group of males at a car and saw a bullet hit the ground before hearing several more gunshots.
A second witness told police that as the people were leaving a short Hispanic male in a white Ford Escalade fired a shot at the ground and also shot into the air.
A bullet fired into the ground ricocheted and went through a glass window, police said, and there was a hole in the wall from the bullet.
The officer found one 9 mm pistol casing and two .40-caliber casings, police said.
Later on Sunday police responded to the 600 block of Ninth Avenue Southeast to a report of a gunshot being fired at a residence.
Smith reported at about 7 p.m. that while sitting in her living room she heard a shot. At the time Smith saw her curtain move and a sound from her bedroom.
She then noticed that there was a hole in her window.
Smith estimated it would cost about $350 to fix the window.
