TIFTON — The creations of 30 artists will be on display at the Tifton Museum of Arts and Heritage, Nov. 3-4. In addition, half-dozen local organizations and entrepreneurs will offer home-baked goodies at a “Sweet Taste of Tifton.”
Formerly the Artists’ Market on Love, Museum organizers wanted to open the annual event to the larger creative community, according to a press release. According to Syd Blackmarr, exhibits chair, the response from artists has been double that of years past.
Most artists will have their work for sale; however some will be there just to “show off” their imaginative work, the release states. Included will be paintings, drawings, photography, quilling, wood carvings and turned wood ornaments and vessels, pottery, beads, jewelry and “a few surprises.”
In addition to showing and selling, artists will compete for $1,500 in prizes. Winners will be announced at noon Saturday. Several favorite artists from past shows will be present, including many local artists; however, there are many new creators from throughout the region, organizers said.
Music by guitarist Daniel Parish will be featured from 11 a.m. — 2 p.m. on Saturday, and sandwiches and beverages will be available from Dave’s Bread and Coffee.
Hours are Saturday, 10 a.m. — 5 p.m. and Sunday, 1 — 4 p.m. Several outside artists may not participate on Sunday, however, all art inside the building will continue to be shown.
Admission is free to the public.
The Museum is located at 255 Love Avenue, downtown Tifton. Contact Syd Blackmarr, 229-387-5657 or Joy Yost at joy.yost@tiftonmuseum.org. For a full calendar of Museum activities, go to www.tiftonmuseum.org.
