TIFTON — Tift County’s 2018 property tax bills have been mailed, according to a press release.
The bill includes information concurring property taxes on the back side.
Tax bills are sent to the individual taxpayers, not the mortgage company, the release states. It is the taxpayers’ responsibility to ensure their mortgage company has it. The tax office does not have any information on any taxpayers’ mortgage company or if they even have a mortgage, according to the release
Taxpayers who sold property in 2018 will still get a bill. The law dictates the tax office send a bill to the owner as of Jan. 1, the release states. The new owner will also get a bill when the deed is recorded at the clerk of court.
A total of 19,424 property tax bills were sent out, which will generate $32,126,801 in tax dollars. The bills are due Nov. 15.
Residents can pay their bills in person at the office, online at www.tiftcounty.org or drop them in the drop box on the front of the Charles Kent Administration Building.
