MOULTRIE, Ga. — Recent investigations conducted by Colquitt County drug agents netted two arrests on meth trafficking charges as well as arrests involving sale and possession of the substance.
Among those arrested is a 104 E. Bethel Ave. resident who reportedly eluded officers who raided the house in March and who faces charges related to that investigation as well as new accusations.
Xavien Jamal Kinsey, 22, was arrested Thursday after again trying to run from police when they showed up at his residence at about 3 p.m., according to the Moultrie-Colquitt County Drug Enforcement Team.
Three others who ran from Kinsey’s residence on March 9 were chased down that night.
“Since that time I received information he was still continuing his drug business,” Sgt. Justin Lindsay said. “We opened another case against him, an undercover operation (involving) purchasing drugs from him.”
After making several successful drug buys, Lindsay said, police moved in after learning that Kinsey was back at the Bethel Avenue home.
“He was found to be in possession of a large amount of money,” he said. “He was also found to be in possession of several ounces of marijuana as well as digital scales and an AK-47 (rifle).”
Charges from the recent investigation include possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, two counts each sale of marijuana and use of a communication facility in committing a felony and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
Kinsey also was booked on the charges related to the March 9 search at his residence. Those are possession of ecstasy with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and two counts of obstruction of a police officer.
In an unrelated case, officers with the agency made two arrests Nov. 7 at 178 Randall Salters Road, Norman Park, while responding to a tip about drug activity.
“(Investigators) went to 178 Randall Salters Road in reference to complaints about drugs and possible stolen property,” Lindsay said. “While conducting the investigation, we located over 28 grams of crystal meth.”
Jimmy Fred Coleman and Ronald Steven Golden, both 41, were arrested at the time and each charged with trafficking methamphetamine.
Also on Nov. 7, agents arrested Jessica Perkins, 24, 6167 Hwy. 111, and William Nathaniel Rhodes, 31, 318 First St. N.W.
“During an undercover buy operation we were able to purchase meth from Perkins using a cooperating witness,” Sgt. Channing McDowell said. “Perkins and Rhodes both agreed to sell the cooperating witness meth.”
They met the informant at a motel on South Main Street, where Perkins reportedly made the transaction while Rhodes was in the car.
“The substance field-tested positive for meth and is at the (Georgia Bureau of Investigation) crime lab,” McDowell said.
Perkins was charged with sale of methamphetamine, and Rhodes with being a party to the crime of sale of methamphetamine. Both also were charged with use of a communication facility in committing a felony.
At the time of Rhodes’ arrest, McDowell said, he was found with a small amount of suspected meth, so he also was charged with possession of methamphetamine.
In other recent drug arrests:
• Donna Patrice West, 58, 1901 Mitchell County Line Road, Hartsfield; sale of methamphetamine and driving while license withdrawn.
• Jody Ronald Anderson, 39, 1515 Fourth Ave. Apt. 15, sale of methamphetamine and use of communication facility to commit a felony.
• Nina Michelle Garcia-Vargas, 30, 162 Cook Road; possession of methamphetamine and possession of a drug-related object.
Police said that Paul Michael Smith was at a motel room with Garcia-Vargas on South Main Street when officers approached and was able to remove the window air conditioner from the room and escape. He faces a charge of possession of methamphetamine in that case.
He has since been arrested in Thomas County, where a car reported stolen during a carjacking in Moultrie was found. He is being held at the Thomas County Jail and also faces a carjacking charge in Moultrie.
