One death in weekend bike accident

TIFTON — The investigation of a fatal accident on Saturday is still ongoing, according to the Georgia State Patrol Post 13 Trooper S. Pritchett.
According to Pritchett, the accident happened around 7:50 a.m. on Willis Still Road.
Cyclists Sophia Fisher, 18, and her mother Lynda Fisher, 48, were traveling west on Willis Still Road on road bikes when they were struck from behind by a Dodge Ram pickup truck being driven by Eric Avila, 19.
Lynda was transported to Tift Regional Medical Center, where she is in stable condition. Sophia was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers said that both bicyclists were wearing helmets and were in the correct lane.
Avila was also traveling west on Willis Still Road, according to troopers. He voluntarily submitted to blood and urine tests.
At this time there is no stated cause of the accident and troopers are not speculating as to factors that contributed to the accident.
The investigation is ongoing and any charges are pending completion of the investigation.
