After reading a recent guest columnists article about President Trump’s supporters, I sent the editor an email telling him I thought it was “a great laugh.” To my surprise, Editor Stuart Taylor replied and said he wanted to run a response and asked if I would write one. So, here is my opinion.
The recent article asking “What are we going to do with Trump supporters post-Trump?” is a textbook example of modern day liberal political rhetoric. This question is not being asked to solicit a response or ideas, they already have a plan. After reading articles much like this over the years, it appears as though they follow the same outline. I call it the “5 D’s of Liberal Rhetoric.” However I only see the first four in this article, which are 1. Divide, 2. Deceive, 3. Defend and 4. Deflect.
The divisiveness the article makes is clear throughout.
Twenty-eight times “you/your” is used and 21 times “we/us” is used. It’s not just about dividing the population by presidential choice either, but it’s done with a masterful voice of passive-aggressive condescension. Read the article again and take note of the “You fell for,” “easily fooled,” “you’ve been deaf,” “you refuse to see,” “you made a colossal mistake,” and “your mistake.” My favorite by far is the demeaning nature of the “how do we deal with you” statement. Like a frustrated parent scolding a child. Then, following those divisive words up by further calling President Trump’s supporters easily fooled, bullies, sociopaths and traitors. Translation = We smart, you stupid.
The article is laced with deceit such as implying that everything bad written about President Trump is true. The absurdity of that statement is mind blowing. This is also part of the “Deflect” directive. Pushing the lie that all our nation’s problems have been created within the last 18 months by President Trump. More on that in just a moment. I believe only half of what I see anymore and even less of what I hear or read, especially with today’s biased media. No one reports without bias today.
When these first two points of a liberal’s argument are exposed, their natural response is to defend their position even though they have no facts to support it, just opinion. The other portion of this point comes with general threats, sometimes open and sometimes veiled as in this article. Notice how in the article that the question of “What are we going to do with you?” is sandwiched between “bullies and sociopaths, criminals and traitors.” What does society generally do with these types? Society locks them up, of course. The veiled threat is apparent here: if you don’t vote Democrat, when we do come into power, we going to come looking for you!
The purpose of that article as a whole is to deflect attention from the liberal agenda of the last 20-30-plus years which is now far less disguised. Like a skilled pick-pocket drawing your attention to a dollar on the ground while they steal your watch, wallet and cell phone.
For two years Democrats have done absolutely nothing but vilify President Trump. No realistic solutions to problems and no goals other than to oppose President Trump and spread fear. Their agenda is clear, and it’s socialism. Socialism, democratic socialism, whatever name you want to call it, it’s still socialism and the liberals and Democrats have and are trying to push our nation to become a socialist nation. While the article attempts to paint supporters of President Trump as ignorant, uneducated, stupid foolish children, we are educated, our eyes are wide open and our ears have heard what the liberal Democrats have said.
Now, listen to us. We don’t want socialism on any scale. Should any group attempt to take our freedom or our republic, I have but two words: Molon Labé (Editor’s Note: Translated into English as “come and take them.”).
