CAIRO — An annual Cairo tradition has been rescheduled because of possible winter-type weather.
The Cairo Christmas parade, which makes its way through downtown Cairo the first Thursday in December, has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Dec 12., 7 p.m.
“Everything is the same; the only thing that’s changed is the date,” said Sara Heady, Cairo-Grady County Chamber of Commerce executive director.
Heady said safety for parade participants and attendees in the weather, forecasted for high chances of rain and temperatures in the 40s, was considered.
“It was just a matter of making phone calls,” Heady said of the rescheduling.
Starting Monday, the Cairo-Grady Chamber of Commerce received numerous phone calls about the parade and the weather forecast.
“We’ve gotten well over 100 phone calls,” Heady said, adding the Chamber is contacting each individual vendor about the rescheduling.
The Tuesday weather forecast is much brighter, Heady said.
“It’s going to be perfect weather for it,” she added.
