Investigators said that on Monday at about 5 p.m, Nathan Brett Hastey, 19, and Elijah Damon Ensley, 17, went to the apartment at 408 Wrinkle St. to sell marijuana to James M. Walton, 18, and Donte Jackson. Instead of going through with the marijuana deal, however, investigators have determined that Jackson and Walton intended to rob Hastey and Ensley.

Investigators determined that Jackson pulled a handgun and the robbery attempt led to a fight. There was a struggle for the gun, and during this struggle a gunshot was fired that struck Walton in the head and exited through the other side of his face and ended up lodged in his shoulder. At this time, investigators are not releasing more details about this part of the incident.

Walton remains hospitalized in Chattanooga in stable condition. This case is still being investigated by the police and further charges against everyone involved are possible.
