Theft investigation finds meth, guns; Tifton man charged

MOULTRIE, Ga. — Police seized weapons, ammunition a half-ounce of suspected crystal meth and ingredients for cooking the drug in a recent operation that resulted in the arrest of a Tifton man.
The officers arrested Randall Casey Coots on Son Norman Road, said Sgt. Justin Searcy, an investigator with the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office’s Drug Enforcement Team.
“(Officers) responded to 116 Son Norman Road Lot 5 following up on a theft,” Searcy said. “One of our investigators got consent to search the premises.”
Inside the residence police found a pistol and a shotgun, products used to manufacture methamphetamine and items that could be used in the distribution of drugs, Searcy said. That wasn’t all.
“Approximately 14.6 grams of crystal meth was located,” he said.
Coots was arrested at the residence.
Coots, 29, 152 Pardue Road, Tifton, was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, criminal use of an article with an altered identification, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
