Breast cancer remains the most common cancer among women other than skin cancer. It’s the second-leading cause of cancer death, and about one in eight women will develop the disease in their lifetime. The disease consistently remains one of the most common cancers treated at Archbold’s Lewis Hall Singletary Oncology Center every year.
On Thursday, October 26, Archbold will host the sixth annual Pink Affair, a benefit fashion show. And they’re looking for local cancer survivors to participate as models.
“The Pink Affair is such a fun event that our local cancer survivors look forward to every year,” said Debbie Beeson, breast cancer survivor and Pink Affair committee member. “Each year we have around 40 local cancer survivors — men and women who have survived all different types of cancer participate. It’s a great time for them to celebrate cancer survivorship with their family, friends and our community as a whole.”
This year, the Pink Affair will be held at a new location — the Thomasville Center for the Arts.
“The Pink Affair has grown tremendously over the years,” said Beeson. “We’re excited about the change in venue this year. The Center for the Arts is a much larger venue, and we look forward to having even more models than we have in the past, and the ability to accommodate an even larger audience, too.”
In addition to the fashion show, a silent auction will be held, featuring art crafted by Singletary Oncology Center cancer patients, and a celebration honoring the models will follow the fashion show, with food and live music.
Pink cocktail attire is suggested, but not required.
Proceeds from the event will help cover the cost of breast prostheses and mastectomy bras for patients who are unable to afford them.
If you or someone you know is a cancer survivor and interested in modeling for the Pink Affair, visit www.archbold.org/apinkaffair for more information, or call Beeson at (229) 403-9016. The deadline to register as a model is Monday, October 2.
Corporate and individual sponsorship opportunities are also available for the Pink Affair. Event tickets are $25 and will be available for purchase beginning October 1.
