MOULTRIE, Ga. — A Colquitt County man has been jailed on multiple rape and sodomy charges after a woman reported he repeatedly sexually assaulted her over a three-day period.

The victim was able to call for help on Saturday and was taken to Colquitt Regional Medical Center for treatment, police said. The assault reportedly occurred at the 513 Still Road, Ellenton, residence of Marcos Cruz Leon, who was arrested on Saturday.

“She was raped and sodomized several times over three days,” Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Austin Cannon said. “He also assaulted her physically — hit her and choked her and also bit her during the assault.”

The victim was treated at the hospital and was released, Cannon said.

Leon, 41, has been charged with three counts each of rape and aggravated sodomy.

The woman eventually was able to make a phone call on Saturday.

“She contacted somebody who works for a women’s shelter, and that person referred her to us,” Cannon said.

Leon was drinking during the time of the assaults, and put up a fight before he was arrested, he said.

“As we were securing the crime scene, he met responding deputies at the door,” Cannon said. “A short struggle ensued, and he was subsequently taken into custody.”
