Boy severely injured in golf cart incident

THOMASVILLE — An 8-year-old Thomasville boy is being treated at a Tallahassee, Florida, hospital for a severe head injury suffered when he reportedly was struck by a golf cart Sunday afternoon.

An 11-year-old girl was operating a golf cart about 1 p.m. Sunday on Oak Trace Drive when the younger boy ran into the golf cart’s path, Sgt. 1st Class Tommy Peeples, Thomasville Post 12 Georgia State Patrol commander, said.

“The golf cart struck the child, knocking the child to the ground, where he hit his head and was run over by the golf cart,” Peeples said.

The commander said the boy suffered a severe head injury, as well as other injuries.

The boy, who is in critical condition, was transported to Archbold Memorial Hospital, then to the Tallahassee hospital.
