Jesse Clarence

‘J.C.’ Rose

GREER, S.C. — Jesse Clarence “J.C.” Rose, 88, died Sunday, June 11, 2006, at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Buford Street United Methodist Church. The Rev. Scott Wachter and the Rev. Bob Waddell will officiate. Burial will be at Frederick Memorial Gardens following the church service. The family will be at 116 Hillside Dr., Gaffney, S.C. Visitation for Mr. Rose will be held from 6 to 8 tonight at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home downtown.

Mr. Rose was the husband of the late Ruth Fletcher Rose and was born in Ashburn to the late Dock Henry and Frances Kent Rose. He was a member of Buford Street United Methodist Church in Gaffney, where he formerly served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. He was also past Master, past High Priest and past Commander of the York rite Mason Sycamore Lodge 210 and was a member of the Hejaz Shriners. Mr. Rose retired from Armour and Company of Tifton and United Beef Company of Gaffney, S.C. He also was a graduate of Emory University.

Surviving are three sons, Henry Rose and wife Barbara of Greer, S.C.,., William Harry Rose and wife Jean of Greer, S.C. and John W. Rose and wife Frankie of Fort Mill, S.C. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Mary F. Rose of Greenville, S.C., Joseph H. Rose of Antioch, Calif., Elisabeth R. Palermo of College Station, Texas, Katie R. Sloan of Charleston, S.C., Laura R. Hicks of Simpsonville, S.C., and David Rose of Greer, S.C. His great-grandchildren are Jeff and Jake Rose of Antioch, Calif., and Talon Hicks of Simpsonville, S.C.

Donna Yvonne Hill

TIFTON—Donna Yvonne Hill, 49, of Tifton, died Saturday, June 10, 2006, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with the Rev. Lewis Bullard officiating. Burial will follow at Paulk’s Chapel Cemetery in Worth County.

Richard Luke, Bobby Marshall, B.J. Willis, Bobby Joe Dorsey, Bill Walters, John Grantham, Randy Willis and Jamie Hancock will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Hill was born July 13, 1956, in Irwin County to the late Hugh Dorsey Stephens and Jewell Parrish of Tifton.

A lifetime resident of Tift County, Mrs. Hill was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed gardening, being outdoors and camping. She also loved and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her mother, Mrs. Hill is survived by her husband, Gilbert Hill of Tifton; three daughters and three sons-in-law, Alicia and Jason Hartsfield of Omega, Lisa and Tim Blanchard of Tifton and Mindy and Robert McCoy of Louisville, Ala.; three sisters, Frieda Stephens, Debbie Stephens and Teresa Stephens, all of Tifton; her grandchildren, Tanner and Hannah Hartsfield, Heather and Katie Spradlin, Shelby, Mary Grace and Trey McCoy; and several nieces and nephews.

James Lewis Griner

MOULTRIE — James Lewis Griner, 51, Moultrie, died Saturday, June 10, 2006, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today at Cobb Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens with full military honors.

Larry Thompson, the Rev. Terry Webb and the Rev. Michael Helms will officiate. Windell Douglas, John Saunders, Trevor Douglas, Harold Rackley, David Rackley, Henry Rackley, Jake Rackley and Freddie Hammock will serve as pallbearers. Steve Thompson, Danny Griner, Jerry Griner, Buddy Lee, Shawn Bostick, Chris Lane, Greg Turner, Rusty Griner, Brett Little and Paul Mills will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Griner was born on Dec. 13, 1954 in Mitchell County. He was the son of Hilda Turner Griner and George Watson Griner Jr., both deceased. He served as a postmaster with the U.S. Postal Service and in the U.S. Navy as an air controller. He was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Griner is survived by his wife, Sheila Rackley Griner of Moultrie; a son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Kristin Griner of Moultrie; a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Nick Chastain of Cairo; a granddaughter, Morgan Caroline Griner; a sister and her husband, Becky Griner Busbee and Fred W. Busbee Jr. of Thomasville; his mother-in-law, Bonnie C. Rackley of Baconton; brothers-in-law, Henry Rackley Jr. and wife Vicki of Camilla and David Rackley and wife Donna of Baconton; and a sister-in-law and her husband, Polly and Windell Douglas of Baconton.
