Basden got his ministerial head start at the church of his Christian conversion and development under the tutelage of his father in ministry, Rev. Dr. J. Carl Rahming and the St. Paul Baptist Church, Fox Hill, Nassau, Bahamas. At the age of 19, he accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and savior of his life. Upon completion, he returned to the Bahamas and worked as a social worker at the Department of Social Services.
Later, he was given the opportunity to attend seminary by Bishop Frank Curtis Cummings, Presiding Prelate of the Eleventh Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. In 1996 he enrolled at the Turner Theological Seminary at the Interdenominational Theological Seminary. Upon completion received the Master of Divinity degree in 1999. Due to an unquenchable thirst, he enrolled at the ITC once again and earned the degree Doctor of Ministry in May 2004.
He has pastored the Mt. Gilead AME Church in Columbus, Mt. Commodore A.M.E. Church in Columbus and the St. Thomas AME Church in Thomasville.
He also pastored Quinn Chapel AME Church, Louisville, Ky. Currently, he serves as the pastor of Warren Chapel AME Church, Chattanooga, Tenn. Basden also serves as an instructor at Simmons Bible College, Louisville, Ky.
Basden’s passion is helping humanity realize its full potential. Therefore, he works to make this a reality in his ministry.
