Harrison, 22, was fatally shot at about 1:30 a.m. in what was described as a shootout between the two men in the Sunset Plaza parking lot outside a nightclub.

Police said that several cars were struck by bullets, but no bystanders were injured during the exchange of gunfire.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said at the time of Suggs’ arrest that the two had apparently been involved in an altercation that led to the shooting.

At the time of his arrest Suggs, 26, 603 First St. S.W., had charges pending from an April 2014 arrest on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Suggs was sentenced in April 2010 to a three-year prison term on a conviction for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections. He served two and a half years and was released in February 2013. He also was sentenced in a 2007 case on charges of possession of cocaine and theft by receiving stolen property.

Suggs had no history of violent crime prior to the March 1 shooting.
