Wesley McGee

ALAPAHA — Wesley McGee, 48, of Alapaha, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Flat Creek Church. The Rev. Mickey Lindsey will officiate. Burial will follow at Flat Creek Cemetery.

Mr. McGee was born Jan. 18, 1958, in Cook County. He was the son of Willie B. McGee and Ada Ethell King, both deceased.

He was employed with Chaparral Boats.

Mr. McGee is survived by two brothers, Willie B. “Junior” McGee Jr. of Alapaha and Wayne McGee of Nashville.

Frances Kimbro Burkett Hobby

SYLVESTER — Frances Kimbro Burkett Hobby, 96, of Sylvester, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006, at Sylvester Health Care.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with interment at Hillcrest Cemetery. The Rev. Earnie Pirkle and the Rev. Dexter Wilson will officiate.

Born March 19, 1910, in Gwinnett County to Emory Lawrence Kimbro and Rhoda Jane Pirkle Kimbro, Mrs. Hobby had lived in Worth County for more than 70 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Clyde L. Burkett, who died July 25, 1959; her second husband, Clarence J. Hobby Sr., who died March 13, 1989; a son, Robert J. Burkett; three brothers, Roy, Frank and James Kimbro; and one sister, Flora K. Raney.

She was a homemaker and had been active in the Sylvester Woman’s Club and Home Demonstration Club. She taught Sunday School at Terrell Baptist Church where she was a former member. She was a current member of The First Baptist Church where she was a member of the TEL Sunday School Class and the WMU.

Survivors include her daughters, Evelyn Burkett Williams of Houston, Texas; sons Emory C. Burkett of Columbia, S.C., and David and his wife, Joy Burkett of Chula; three sisters, Doris K. Hambrick of Sylvester, Lillian K. Fletcher of Sumner and Edith K. Lumpkin of Shingler; sister-in-law, LaNelle Parr of Sylvester; one daughter-in-law, Margery Burkett of Sylvester; 11 grandchildren, Ron and Brenda Cherry, Betty and David Carpenter, Shannon B. and Bill Olendoff, Gail B. and Dr. Larry Daugherty, Larry and Sandie Burkett, Bonnie B. and Bob Powers, Lynn B. and Tracy Willis, Kay B. Willis, Commander Chris Burkett, Gerald Williams and Lindon and Latricia Williams; and 16 great-grandchildren. Other survivors include Mr. Hobby’s children, C.J. Hobby Jr. and Doris Hobby Persico.

Marvin Holbrook

ALAPAHA — Marvin Holbrook, 81, of Alapaha, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Flat Creek Church. The Rev. Mickey Lindsey will officiate. Burial will follow at Flat Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held after 4 today with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Lovein Funeral Home, Nashville. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church.

Mr. Holbrook was born Aug. 4, 1925, in Oconee County, S.C. He was the son of Silas Holbrook and Kate Stone Holbrook, both deceased.

He was a retired farmer and lumber grader with Hubert Moore Lumber Co.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II and a member of Nashville’s V.F.W. Post.

Survivors include his wife, Euna Irene Smith Holbrook of Alapaha; five daughters and sons-in-law, Frankie and Larry Exum, Maxine and Robert Adams, Emily and Jimmy Fulp and Marilyn and Randy Lancaster, all of Nashville, and Flora and Ralph Cannon of Leesburg; five sons and daughters-in-law, Wesley and JoNan Holbrook of Lakeland, Clark and Brenda Holbrook of Sylvester, and Kerry and Belinda Holbrook, Phillip and Angie Holbrook and Stacy and Shannon Holbrook, all of Nashville; three sisters, Gladys Finley of Fair Play, S.C., and Jean Stanbridge and Reba Murray, both of Toccoa; 24 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Glen McKee

TIFTON — Willie Glen McKee, 65, of Tifton, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Eastside Baptist Church with the Rev. Calvin Bobo and the Rev. Eddie Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens.

Deacons of Eastside Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers with members of the I John Sunday School Class serving as honorary pallbearers.

Born July 23, 1941, in Meridian, Miss., to Eula Chisolm McKee and the late Billy Ray McKee Sr., he was also preceded in death by one brother, Billy Ray “B.R.” McKee Jr.

Mr. McKee, formerly of Collinsville, Miss., had lived in Tifton since Jan. 1, 1952.

He served in the Georgia Army National Guard and was a charter member and deacon of Eastside Baptist Church.

Mr. McKee was a co-owner of McKee’s Auto Center, which he started in 1965. He was an avid motorcycle rider and member of the South Georgia Touring Club and Christian Motorcycle Association.

He enjoyed his work and spending time with his family.

Mr. McKee was known to his wife, children and grandchildren as “Daddy O.” He was a wonderful person and was loved by everyone who knew him.

He was a good mechanic and loved working with people.

In addition to his mother, Eula McKee of Tifton, Mr. McKee is survived by his wife, Maxine West McKee; one son, Mike McKee of Tifton; one daughter, Genia McKee of Tifton; one brother and one sister-in-law, Darrel and Judy McKee of Tifton; two grandchildren, Shane and Leanna McKee, both of Tifton; one uncle, Lamar McKee of Hahira; and many nieces and nephews.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Hospice of Tift Area or the Eastside Baptist Church Building Fund.
