Services for Homer George, 88, of Thomasville, are 3 p.m., Monday, July 27, at Thomasville First Baptist Church Chapel. Rev. Dr. Milton C. Gardner will officiate. Interment will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Active Casket bearers are Bil Sadler, Steve Copeland, Riley Copeland, Carter Copeland, David Myers and Andrew Sawyer. Mr. George died Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Southern Pines Retirement Home. Born January 27, 1927, in Henry County, he was the son of the late John Thomas George and Virginia Pair George. Mr. George was retired from Hartford Insurance Company in 1989 and relocated to Thomasville to work for McIntyre and Edwards Insurance Company. He was a member of Thomasville First Baptist Church. On June 23, 1950, he married Kathleen Whitfield George, who survives. Other survivors include: daughters,  Kathryn G. Lawhon of Albany and Linda G. Moore of Richmond, Va.; granddaughters,  Heather M. Sadler (Bil) of Albany, Angel O. Copeland (Steven)and Tara E. Moore (Maegan) both of Richmond, Va.; great grandchildren, Riley and Carter Copeland, Macey, Cole and Layne Marie Sadler, and Cooper Moore; sister-in-laws, Myrtle George of Buford and  Florine George of Stockbridge. He was preceded in death by his son Dennis William George and a son-in-law David W. Lawhon; brothers, Clarence George and Tom George and a sister Annie Dale Williams.
