Take it to the Lord in prayer

Life is not easy, especially for Christians. Satan is constantly throwing us curve balls. If you have a family and home or business, you are constantly bombarded with troubles and problems. Whenever I see a woman or family with young children, I always think, “What a blessing,” but knowing from experience, I also think, “What a hard job!”
Computers were thought to simplify problems, and they do help in many cases. But they also multiply our work, our paper, and our problems. However, psychiatrist, Dr. M. Scott Peck (The Road Less Traveled), begins his book with, “Life is difficult.” If ever there were an understatement, this is it. Dr. Peck adds, “Life is a series of problems, but it is only because of problems that we grow mentally and spiritually.”
The Apostle Paul tells us in Romans 5:3-4, “And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulations produce perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”
Joseph Scriven wrote a wonderful hymn in 1885 called “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.” The point of the song is the great advice to, “Take it to the Lord in prayer.” There is great power in prayer, especially for obedient believers.
So, whenever you feel overwhelmed with difficulties, instead of ranting and complaining, talk it over with your Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Everything in this life is passing away—and much sooner than we realize. Talk with your Father in Heaven. Tell Him all your problems and worries and ask Him for His help and guidance. We have a wonderful friend in Jesus and we never have to face problems alone. The Holy Spirit is our Helper, Counselor, and best Friend.
But woe to all unbelievers! They have no one they can trust and count on as we Christians do. Their only happiness is ephemeral and soon gone. Their joy is limited by circumstances which they find favorable. But circumstances change rapidly. However, we Christians have the “joy of salvation,” which is permanent. Christ, our Savior, is our Rock to which we have our souls anchored. We can always rely on Christ for support and comfort. How I pity all unbelievers! They have nothing but death to look forward to. Deathbeds are coming for all of us if the Lord does not return first.
Atheists have been so deceived by Satan that they do not fear the hell that awaits them. They neither believe in hell nor God. They think death is like snuffing out a candle. How mistaken they are! We Christians are commissioned by Jesus to go, witness, baptize, and make disciples.
If you know an unbeliever or anyone who will not attend church, witness to him about Christ and the salvation He offers to everyone who will believe in Him. You may likely get nowhere with him, but you will have done your job of serving the Lord. The results are not your responsibility but that of the Holy Spirit.
