THOMASVILLE — A 64-year-old woman and her two 5-year-old foster daughters were the victims of mistaken identity resulting in a violent crime, according to authorities.

The woman was in her house about 11:45 Monday morning when she heard a noise in the back yard, looked out and did not see anything.

A few minutes later the Sanford Road resident heard a loud noise and saw three masked, armed men wearing gloves burst through her front door. One of the men pointed a firearm at the woman and demanded money. The victim pulled $40 from her bra and gave it to the robber.

One of the men then asked the woman where Herbert was. Lt. Tim Watkins, Thomas County Sheriff’s Office chief investigator, said the intruders were looking for a man named Herbert who lives two doors down. An elderly woman confined to a wheelchair lives at the other house.

When the victim reached for the door knob, one of the men told her not to touch the knob. When the masked men were not looking, she opened the door and ran outside with the girls.

The woman’s cell phone, a wallet containing credit cards and two bottles of prescription medication belonging to the children also were taken during the invasion.

The sheriff’s office received assistance from the U.S. Secret Service and U.S. Marshal Service to track down the suspects.

Apprehended Wednesday and Thursday are: Jeffrey Dishane Daniels, 20, Mary’s Court, Ochlocknee, Markeith Terrell Lamon, 26, 110 Beth St., Santana Tyrone Bryant, 20, 21 Oak Ridge Drive, and Kydetrius Thomas, 20, 306 Simeon St. They are charged with armed robbery, three counts of aggravated assault, cruelty to children, false imprisonment, home invasion and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

One of the suspects waited in the get-away car, Watkins said, and all claim to be the driver. None of the suspects admitted entering the woman’s home.
